networks on the African continent.
Babcock provides services in the management of transmission line
projects as well as the design and construction thereof. Since its
inception, the company has been the largest supplier of
transmission lines in the country, having constructed the greatest
portion of South Africa's national grid.
Past completed projects include the electrification system of
the famous Kariba Dam, the Namibian Interconnector as well as the
construction and erection of the first 765kV line on the African
Continent.
Babcock has invested substantially in its 110 000m2
manufacturing facilities in Nigel, Gauteng, operating to the
requirements of SABS ISO 9001:2000. The company was the second
recipient of the Galvanizing Diamond Award for quality in South
Africa and all hot dip galvanized products carry the SABS ISO 1461
mark.
