Our long term partnerships with local authorities serve schools, academies, businesses and communities across entire regions. Babcock’s proven partnership model transforms local education services by combining education excellence with business innovation, people development and a strong sense of community. By sharing our expertise we deliver efficient, effective school improvement and support services, along with improved outcomes and financial returns for our partners.
Our South East joint venture partnership with Surrey County Council, Babcock 4S, was created in 2004 and has resulted in the development of a new sustainable approach for improving local authority education support services and school effectiveness whilst reducing costs. In 2012 we built on our experience and created Babcock LDP as our new exciting joint venture with Devon County Council. Babcock LDP brings together quality assured expertise from the South West to help raise education outcomes and deliver effective support to schools and academies.
Supporting schools and academies
Babcock is one of only 12 accredited providers of education consultancy and expertise to be included on the Department for Education Academies, UTCs and Free Schools Framework. We employ experts in all aspects of learning and teaching, leadership, inclusion and school management, who work with schools to pursue excellence, challenge underperformance and improve outcomes for learners.

Enhanced education outcomes
Babcock’s partnership with Surrey County Council has improved the performances of schools in Surrey across all key stages with 63% of Surrey pupils achieving 5 A*-C GCSEs (including English and maths) compared to just 50% in 2004/5 when the partnership began.
Driving down costs
Babcock delivers school improvement and education services for schools and local authorities at reduced cost. Our long term partnership with Surrey schools has delivered performance in the top quartile nationally with spend in the bottom quartile and translated into £11.3 million of savings for the council to date, prompting a renewal of our partnership for a further four years.
Re-investing profits back into the community
Babcock has returned dividend payments to Surrey and a percentage of these payments are fed back into the community via the Surrey Education Trust. The Trust has a current fund of £1 million and provides grants of up to £25,000 for innovative local education projects supporting educational development.
