Our specialised pilots and engineers work tirelessly across Europe every summer. We delivered more than 8,200 aerial firefighting missions in 2016; focused in the high-risk areas of Spain, Portugal and Italy. Since the start of the 2017 firefighting season, we have supported the extinction of 613 fires in Spain alone, with more than 17,000 flight hours and 72,500 water-drops from our aircraft.
Foresight, prevention and intervention are critical in the fight against forest fires and Babcock’s resources allow firefighters to actively survey woods and forests so they can swiftly intervene where necessary. Our highly experienced crews focus on both the prevention and the extinguishing of fires, clocking up over 200,000 flight hours using our specialised fleet of aircraft.
In terms of assets, Babcock operates over 100 aircraft, including both helicopters and planes, and manages the Italian government’s 19 amphibious firefighting aircraft.
Babcock operates a diverse fleet of helicopters and airplanes (light, medium and heavies) to provide our customers with tailored solutions to respond to their particular needs. With this fleet portfolio, Babcock provides a full range of firefighting related missions such as water-dropping, firefighter transportation, aerial coordination and real-time image gathering to feed to our customers’ command and control centres.
With this fleet, we have operated across the Mediterranean in Italy, Portugal, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Cyprus, Turkey, Lebanon and Georgia.
