The Babcock Apprentice Team at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) UK is delighted to announce that Michael Wright from Stratstone Land Rover Nottingham was crowned Global JLR Apprentice Technician of the Year 2018. 12 Apprentices from JLR markets around the world competed in the Jaguar Land Rover Everyday Legend Apprentice Technician of the Year 2018 at the UK Academy in Warwick. Apprentices travelled to the UK to take part in a series of assessments over three days. Their skills were put to the test in a range of technical tasks designed to assess their key competencies to ensure the highest level of customer service. Judged by a global team of JLR assessors from as far reaching as Brazil to India, Finland to China, Michael competed against the best apprentice compatriots that the JLR global markets have to offer.
Michael was recognised at the Awards evening which took place on 25th October at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon, hosted by Felix Bräutigam, JLR Chief Commercial Officer. Jeremy Hicks, Market Performance Director at JLR and Andy Goy, Network Excellence Academy Director for JLR presented the award to Michael, which recognised him as the top Apprentice Technician globally. In addition to a fantastic trophy, Michael was also awarded a trip to New York to watch Formula E and a Snap-on tool box.
The Babcock team congratulate Michael on his fantastic achievement and for all his hard work and commitment, demonstrating Babcock’s own delivery of excellence when it comes to training standards at one of our flagship automotive clients.
As an immediate follow-up to this achievement, Michael attended the WorldSkills UK Live Show at the NEC on 15th and 16th November to support the Jaguar Land Rover exhibition stand that the Babcock team managed on behalf of the client, sharing his success story with the next generation of Apprentices in the Spotlight presentations that ran daily at the show.
