Business and Administration Apprenticeship

  • Name:Eleanor Morris
  • Location:Devonport

My name is Eleanor Morris and I was a L2 Business and Administration Apprentice.

My apprentice trade, why I chose it and why I chose Babcock:

My Apprenticeship trade was Business and Administration. I am now an Administrator in the SHEF (Safety Health Environment & Fire) department and I have recently secured a Project Engineer position.

My favourite part of the job:

I love how varied my role is. No two days or weeks are the same and my level of responsibility is going up as I am in my role longer. I am particularly looking forward to expanding my skills, knowledge and responsibilities as my journey with Babcock progresses.

Most challenging thing I’ve ever done to date:

One of the most challenging things I have done to date would be the apprentice projects. These projects are designed to challenge your ability as an apprentice, push you to your limits and teach you how projects in the working environment are carried out.

My typical day:

My typical day currently consists of having a daily catch up with my Senior Management team to discuss any highlights from the previous day or any key events that are coming up. I offer general administrative support to the SHEF department and I am also responsible for raising purchase requisitions and managing purchase orders within my department. One of the larger projects that I am involved in, is the outsourcing of our current Occupational Health provision on site. Within my new role I am getting more involved with the implementation of our Management Information System, Gate Way 2. This will make a huge change to the way Occupational Health works on the Devonport site.
