Babcock carries out and manages operational and deep maintenance refits for Royal Navy surface warships and both the Canadian and UK fleets of submarines. These highly complex operations are carried out via our extensive purpose-designed facilities at our main UK operational sites at Devonport and Rosyth, in addition to facilities located in Victoria, Canada.

Our unique naval infrastructure across the UK, including- large-scale docks capable of accommdating the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers, Syncrolift facilties, nuclear facilities, landing craft facilities and frigate refit complex- position us well to deliver solutions that support complex engineering through-life programmes, while increasing the availability of our customers’ assets and delivering significant cost reductions.

Current contracts include refitting and refuelling the UK’s nuclear-powered submarines and the Canadian Victoria-Class submarines. We also maintain, refit, convert and enhance complex, modern warships such as frigates, destroyers, large amphibious ships, fleet tankers and survey vessels, along with upgrading and overhauling weapons, communications and operating systems.

We have more than 4,000 qualified engineers and technicians in this specialist area, working hand-in-hand with the customer to meet and exceed expectations. Our Devonport facility is recognised by the UK Ministry of Defence as a Centre of Excellence for deep maintenance and infrastructure support.
