Materiality

The report shall cover topics that:

  1. Reflect the reporting organisation’s significant economic, environmental, and social impacts; or

This year we extended the materiality assessment to capture the views of some of our key stakeholder groups and ensure that our strategy evolves with their interests and needs and aligns with our priorities.

Last year we conducted an internal materiality assessment to highlight the issues we believed mattered most to our stakeholders and to Babcock.

This year we extended the materiality assessment to capture the views of some of our key stakeholder groups and ensure that our strategy evolves with their interests and needs and aligns with our priorities.

We have done a lot in the past year to drive our corporate environment, social and governance (ESG) strategy and we have reported on progress against our five ESG priorities in the ESG Strategy section of our Annual Report, see page 54 onward.

Reliability

Timeliness

The reporting organization shall report on a regular schedule so that information is available in time for stakeholders to make informed decisions.

We have published the GRI report in line with the current financial year and our external results.

The reporting period for our energy consumption and carbon emissions is the calendar year (01 January to 31 December), this is opposed to financial year as we have previously reported. The transition to calendar year reporting has allowed more time to collate, analyse and report our environmental data, which has improved the accuracy and completeness of our data sets.
