MOD confirms intent to implement option years on Babcock’s Army Equipment Support Contract

Babcock plays a vital role in supporting the security of our nation. Since 2015, we have been delivering equipment support and fleet management of over 30,000 vehicles for the British Army, from main battle tanks to quad bikes and everything in between.

We are delighted that the Ministry of Defence (MOD) has informed us of its intention to implement the option years on our Service Provision and Transformation Contract (SPTC). This is a significant milestone in our long-term relationship with both the MOD and the Army, which will see us continuing in this role as a critical equipment support partner. This confirmation protects over a thousand jobs and secures this important industrial capability.

Louise Atkinson, Managing Director Defence Equipment, said: “The recent notification that the MOD intends to implement the option years on this contract demonstrates confidence in Babcock’s capabilities to continue to deliver this important contract in support of the British Army.

“Our ability to rapidly react to the emerging and evolving operational requirements of our Armed Forces has never been more important and we feel very privileged to work alongside them in delivering this important service every day.”
