Becoming a Babcock apprentice is an exciting step that will give you the foundations for a career in engineering.

We’ve answered the questions we’re asked most frequently about applying for our apprenticeships below.

  • What are the minimum qualifications I need?

    It varies for some roles, but in general, you must have a good standard of general education and an aptitude for practical subjects. You should have – or expect to get – at least three GCSEs or five Standard Grades, which must include Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject.

  • Will I need to have a security check?

    You might need security checks, depending on the role you’re interested in.

  • Do I have to have a medical check?

    Yes. All new employees have to have a medical before starting, which you’ll need to pass before you can start your apprenticeship. This will normally include a drug and alcohol test.

  • Is Babcock an equal opportunities employer?

  • Do you have a paper application process?

    Our application process is online, to make it easier for you to apply and simpler for us to handle the volume of applications we receive. You don’t need to complete the application in one go – you can come back to it later. We won’t see your application until you submit it to us.
