About Babcock at DSEI
Babcock’s purpose is to create a safe and secure world, together. We believe this reflects our continued commitment to our customers’ critical operations, our focus on empowerment and collaboration throughout the organisation and with our partners.
The Type 31, for example, is a magnificent programme for the UK and the international opportunities for our Arrowhead 120 and 140 frigate designs makes shipbuilding a hugely exciting area for Babcock to work in. Our Arrowhead 140 platform is attracting global interest and allows customer nations of the Arrowhead 140 frigate to develop their sovereign shipbuilding and in-service support capabilities to support the complete lifecycle of their naval assets.
Technology is changing how we work, and we will be showing how our iSupport360TM approach uses data to enable better asset availability, and how we use digital twins to better predict performance and define maintenance requirements. This digital approach is at the core of our new platform development.
Babcock’s engineering support to the Armed Forces across the world is a key part of our business and we will be showing the ways in which we can enhance operational effectiveness. And our integrated training programmes also provide innovative solutions for cutting-edge military needs.
Defence industry challenges
Defence is at the heart of what we do. As the second largest supplier to the UK MOD, we work with the UK Government and MOD across more critical programmes than any other provider, ensuring we meet the needs of our customers as defence requirements evolve and complexity increases. Having this experience allows us to offer our extensive capabilities in design, manufacture and through-life support to Armed Forces around the world.
Our customers at home and internationally are all facing similar demands in an increasingly unstable world. With new and evolving threats to national security, pressures on budgets, the necessary focus on sustainable activities and a greater requirement for applied technology; the need to deliver innovative solutions is a constant. We are mindful that we must be leading the creation of knowledge sharing platforms and collaborative working to promote innovation in how we deliver for our customers and ensure best value.
Babcock has a wealth of deep technical expertise and highly skilled people working across critical and complex engineering programmes around the world. Understanding how to operate key sites and infrastructure, including our Devonport and Rosyth facilities, strengthens our position as a leading Naval partner in the UK and internationally.
Put simply, our expertise is unrivalled and our commitment to driving innovative solutions is unmatched. We have 30,000 people working for Babcock across the world – the potential to harness the engineering know-how and expertise of our people is immense. Our knowledge sharing platforms, our continuing investment in people and technology and our extensive technology programmes help us solve our customers’ challenges. Investment in the next generation and their skills is a key enabler to how we work with our customers and manage their assets.
