Aleksandra becomes a national finalist in the prestigious NAS awards.

Aleksandra Burzec of Home Group has just been announced as one of four East of England regional winners as part of the prestigious National Apprenticeship Awards, beating an outstanding selection of top apprentices to become a national finalist! Now in their 15th year, the National Apprenticeship Awards showcase the diverse and growing range of sectors engaged with apprenticeships, whilst celebrating outstanding apprentices, employers and individuals who go above and beyond to champion apprenticeships across England.

Throughout her application, Aleksandra wowed the judges with the transformational journey she has taken as a result of her apprenticeship programmes. Her journey started a couple of years earlier: following a series of abusive relationships and a breakdown in her mental health, Aleksandra’s personal circumstances spiralled into crisis, and in 2015 she found herself serving a prison sentence in HMP Peterborough. But this is not the end of the story for Aleksandra. From here she made a determined decision to take a new path by enrolling on Home Group’s apprenticeship programme to provide a platform for her future. Three years on, and amongst many other achievements she is now celebrating her success as a national finalist and very much looking forward to the national finals in November!

In 2017, Aleksandra was referred to Home Group’s apprenticeship programme and was enrolled with Babcock as a Customer Service apprentice. From day one, Aleksandra excelled on the apprenticeship, relishing the tasks and activities set and growing in confidence and skill level every day. She completed her apprenticeship in record time, and it was not long before Aleksandra knew that she wanted to build a long term career with Home Group. She has recently enrolled on a Babcock Level 3 Health & Social Care apprenticeship, where she can put her life experiences into practice by working for Home Group’s Transforming Rehabilitation Service. In her new role as a Support Coordinator, Aleksandra is able to apply her new apprenticeship learning with her personal and professional experiences to provide dedicated housing advice and support to a range of vulnerable adults.

Over the past 18 months, Aleksandra’s journey has inspired colleagues from Home Group and Babcock alike and we are delighted to see her success celebrated at these prestigious awards!
