Babcock’s new asset intelligence platform boosts readiness

Babcock has developed a digital asset management and intelligence platform Metis, which is boosting army mission readiness by helping personnel make smarter, data-driven decisions.

Metis delivers a strategic advantage by bringing together siloed systems to create a connected view of assets and how they’re managed.

By utilising a range of technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Metis provides a connected view of asset reliability, availability and readiness across their lifecycle, enhancing maintainability and sustainment in the process.

This real-time operational intelligence streamlines defence enterprises by reducing process duplication and enabling trusted information flows, ensuring everyone works from the same data improving the accuracy and availability of resource and asset information.

Named after the Greek Goddess of wisdom, we initially developed Metis to boost mission readiness for the British Army as part of our Service Provision and Transformation Contract (SPTC), where we provide equipment support and fleet management for more than 30,000 vehicles, from main battle tanks to quad bikes.

Metis can also be configured for any organisation which has complex assets.

Tom Newman, CEO of our Land Sector, said: “As a key strategic partner of the British Army, we are always looking at ways of delivering improved readiness to ensure soldiers have access to the right assets whenever and wherever they need them.

“Now, more than ever, it’s critical our armed forces have high levels of asset availability and Metis uses the latest technology to deliver this – giving them a key strategic advantage.”

During our ‘breathing life into data: from fragmented signals to strategic knowledge’ panel discussion today at DSEI we introduced Metis as an innovative solution to data challenges.
