Babcock Achieves Carbon Trust’s Route to Net Zero Standard

Babcock is delighted to have successfully achieved certification to the Carbon Trust Route to Net Zero Standard – Taking Action tier.

The verification and certification process involved a quantitative assessment of carbon emissions, as well as a qualitative assessment of governance, carbon measurements, implementation, and stakeholder engagement.

The Carbon Trust confirmed that Babcock has reduced Scope 1&2 and business travel carbon footprint by 7% on an absolute basis, from 01.01.2019 to 31.12.2021[1]

Since the launch of our ‘Plan Zero 40’ decarbonisation strategy in 2021, we have committed to delivering Net Zero across our own operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 2040 and the delivery of a 2030 Science Based Target in line with a 1.5-degree pathway. In April 2023, we submitted our Interim and Net Zero carbon reduction targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Babcock CEO, David Lockwood said: “Driven by our Purpose, we’re on a mission to reduce emissions and get to Net Zero across our estate, assets and operations by 2040. This recognition by the Carbon Trust is a positive step on that journey as we strive for excellence, each and every day, in service of a safe and secure world.”
