Cavendish Nuclear leads up to £95 million, 10-year contract to supply Sellafield glove boxes

Cavendish Nuclear, and its key suppliers Jordan Manufacturing and Babcock Marine, have been awarded a 10-year contract to supply Sellafield Ltd with Glove Box Systems to process nuclear material.
This is a strategically important project for Sellafield and is worth up to £95m over 10 years.

As part of this contract, along with our supply chain partners, Cavendish will be designing, manufacturing and testing glovebox systems in two new plants at the Sellafield site, which will treat and manage nuclear materials.

Virtual reality simulation will play a key part in contract. Once the preliminary design is complete, full-scale mock-ups with virtual reality headsets will allow the customer to test out the ergonomics and identify any modifications at the earliest possible stage.

The Cavendish team, and our partners, will be supported by a supply chain located across the UK, bringing together the best of Britain’s nuclear expertise in an integrated team committed to meeting the customer’s demanding specification.

Paul Smith, managing director of nuclear services at Cavendish Nuclear

“I’m delighted that we have been selected to continue support Sellafield Ltd in the delivery of this strategically important programme.

“I believe our collaborative approach to delivery is what differentiates our offer – collaboration is embedded within Cavendish Nuclear and our parent company’s DNA.

Our team offers Sellafield Ltd significant manufacturing capacity to meet the demands of the programme whilst also providing opportunities to share best practice across suppliers.”
