At Babcock, we work alongside our customers to build capability, trust and confidence – not dependency. An example of this is our long-standing partnership with Odense Maritime Technology (OMT), a world leader in the design of military ships.
Since 2019, we’ve worked together to support the development of modern, efficient and exportable naval solutions. Combining UK and Danish expertise to help strengthen Denmark’s sovereign shipbuilding capability through knowledge transfer, skills development, industrial collaboration and long-term partnership.
For the past two years, we’ve supported OMT during the Basic Design phase of Denmark’s Arctic Patrol Vessel (APV) programme. As part of the consortium chosen by the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation, OMT is working to deliver five new APVs that are designed and built to meet the needs of the Danish Armed Forces.
To support the programme, our people provide engineering and design expertise and resource augmentation, as well as wider functional support throughout the programme, supply chain, integrated logistics support and build planning that supports the development of modern, efficient and exportable naval solutions.
As the programme progresses, we continue to explore opportunities to support future phases of design and delivery.

Sovereign capability and long-term value
The APV programme supports Denmark’s ambition to re-establish its sovereign naval shipbuilding capability while creating a platform for future naval expansion.
Together, Babcock and OMT are helping lay the foundations for a resilient shipbuilding enterprise, supporting jobs, skills development, innovation and supply chain growth in both Denmark and the UK. Through long-term industrial collaboration, the partnership is helping create enduring sovereign capability while supporting future opportunities for growth and export.
