Babcock secures place on National Grid High Voltage Overhead Line Framework

Babcock is pleased to announce that it has successfully secured a place on the High Voltage Overhead Line (OHL) framework to provide Engineer, Procure and Construct (EPC) services to National Grid during the RIIO-2 electricity transmission regulatory period (2021 – 2026).

Babcock is one of three partners awarded a place on the framework, which has a value of £0.5bn – £1bn over the next six years.

From April 2021, Babcock will be a key contractor for OHL new build, reconductoring, refurbishment, decommissioning and dismantling work for the high voltage (132kV-400kV) OHL network in England and Wales.

John Davies, Babcock’s CEO Land said:

“We are delighted to have secured a place on the framework and proud to support National Grid in delivering a reliable and resilient transmission network, as well as helping towards achieving their environmental targets. We look forward to continuing our long relationship and help deliver their plans through the next period.”

The RIIO-2 framework replaces the existing contract for overhead line ‘new build’ and overhead line ‘refurbishment’ frameworks, which Babcock has held throughout the RIIO-1 transmission regulatory period (2013 – 2021).
