  • Name:Oliver Brewis
  • Location:Donnington
  • Sector:Land

What is your current role?

Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice

What GCSE’s did you take at school?

Maths, English and Science plus my four choices of Geography, ICT, Resistant Materials and Food & Technology

What were you interested in growing up and did this impact your choice in becoming an apprentice/graduate?

My biggest passion growing up was always cars. It always interested me on how they work and the engineering that goes into them; my goal one day is to own a car I’ve built myself from the ground up. This has driven me to seek the practical skills that I will need to fulfil my dreams.

What’s your favourite thing about working for Babcock?

The working community and the opportunities that will arise once I have completed my apprenticeship.

Where do you want to take your career within Babcock?

Someday I’d like to move over and work within the nuclear sector and progress my knowledge further. Working abroad somewhere with Babcock is another big goal of mine.

What would your advice be to school students choosing GCSEs and thinking of options for the future?

Pick the ones that interest you the most and what you feel like you can progress and develop new skills in. Always remember that even if you fail, life’s not over. There will always be another path to your dream job.
