Leading the way in rail infrastructure
Babcock supports Network Rail and other rail industry customers in providing a safe, reliable and efficient rail network across Great Britain. We are the largest conventional plain line track renewals company in the country with over 50% of the market. With our partners Alstom and Costain, under the ABC Electrification joint venture, we are also one of the largest electrification companies in the country.
In addition, we are a major provider of engineering services in track projects, signalling, telecommunications and on-track plant, offering both single and multi-discipline services for our customers.
Safety, quality and the environment
Providing a safe, responsible and healthy work environment is critical to our success. Since 2009 when we launched our Home Safe Every Day behavioural safety programme, our aim has been to send every person who works for us home safely at the end of each working day.
Our management systems are accredited to British standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 with an overarching accreditation to PAS 99.
We recognise the environmental impact of our business activities and are committed to protecting the environment and creating a sustainable future by following strong management practices.
Partnerships and collaboration
A significant proportion of our contracts are delivered through partnering and collaborative arrangements with a focus on longer term framework agreements. We hold BS11000 accreditation, the quality standard for Collaborative Business Relationships. We recognise the importance of working together with all of our stakeholders and developing long term, mutually beneficial relationships with them.
Project Management
Excellence in Project Management (EiPM) is a framework that we use to support a consistent approach to delivery along every stage of the project life cycle. We continue to embed this approach through a specialist training programme, developed in line with the Association for Project Management (APM).
