Ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of our people

Safety is at the heart of what we do. We hold ourselves to the highest standards to protect our people, partners and places. We continuously work on improving our safety performance with Group-wide initiatives including our annual Safety Stand Down, Safety Summit events and our monthly Safety Stars recognition programme.

We care about our people’s wellbeing and want them to feel their absolute best. This year, using insights from our Global People Survey and in collaboration with colleagues across the organisation, we have worked to enhance our provisions across our four wellbeing pillars (Mental, Physical, Financial, and Social).

Learn more about how we’re ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our people in our Sustainability Report 2025, page 83.

Building a diverse, inclusive and resilient workforce

Our colleagues are the foundation of our success. We’re committed to fostering inclusive, equitable and high-performing culture where every employee can thrive, and our people-first approach to Inclusion and Diversity is championed by the Board and our Executive team.

Our Colleague Led Networks are driving greater equality across the business, helping us to create a welcoming and rewarding place to work where everyone is encouraged to be their true self.

Our networks represent groups from across the business and include Babcock Forces Community, Babcock Carers Network, Babcock Disability Network, Babcock for Multiple Ethnicities, Babcock Multi-Faith Network, Babcock Gender Balance Network, Neurodiversity, and our Pride in Babcock Network.

We acknowledge there is more work to do. Our focus remains on improving gender representation, creating pathways for career progression and building an equitable workplace for all. Gender balance helps us to attract and retain the best talent, with the aim to have at least 30% women in the business by 2030. Download our latest Gender Pay Gap report, and view our Gender Balance table, Annual Report 2025, page 87.

We recognise the importance of both supporting and engaging indigenous and historically disadvantaged communities within the countries we work in. Their diversity brings a richness of ideas and perspectives to the business.

Supporting our communities

We’re committed to making a positive difference to the communities we’re proud to be a part of, providing high-quality jobs that support local economies.

We make sure we’re good neighbours by supporting the communities who both live and work alongside us. Our outreach and collaborative activities, through our donations, charitable sponsorship and volunteering, proudly support a range of military and local community causes.

We want to make a genuine difference to our communities and help them to thrive. In December 2022, we launched our global volunteering policy called ‘Be Kind Day’. Be Kind Day gives us one day each year to play an active part by volunteering for a charity or community group. In 2025, we set a new target of 50,000 hours of volunteering per year in our communities by 2030 to further embed a culture of giving back.

Volunteering is an integral part of how we contribute to the communities around us. As we continue to expand and evolve our approach, we remain committed to making a meaningful and lasting commitment.

Creating futures. It’s what we do.

STEM matters to us.

We raise awareness of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through our network of ambassadors who engage with around 885 schools in the UK: 534 primary schools, 231 secondary schools, 39 further education and 81 other events.

Recruiting, maintaining and developing the best talent is key to ensuring that we keep an excellent workforce with the capacity to meet our needs now, and in the future.

We have around 1,590 apprentices and graduates on programmes across Babcock, as we support and empower young talent and give them the chance to work on some truly inspiring projects.
