Babcock named Company of the Year at AFBE Gala and Awards 2025

We have been named Company of the Year at the Association of Black and Minority Ethic Engineers Gala and Awards 2025, recognising our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion across the engineering sector.

This award celebrates organisations that are actively creating inclusive workplaces and driving meaningful change across the industry.

At Babcock, we’re committed to creating a culture where everyone feels welcome, respected and supported – regardless of background, ethnicity, gender, ability or belief. Guided by our Principles, Think: Outcomes, Collaborate, Be Kind, Own and Deliver, Be Curious and Be Courageous, we’re continuing to make inclusion part of how we work, deliver and lead every day.

We believe that inclusion isn’t a box to tick, it’s how we show up; it’s part of how we deliver for our customers, collaborate as one team and create opportunities for growth. Our people are driving positive change – from our partnerships with Women in Defence Charters and organisations like AFBE-UK, through to our range of employee networks such as Babcock Race Equality, Gender Balance, Neurodiversity, Disability, Forces Community, Multi-faith, Carers and Pride we’re committed to championing inclusion and creating meaningful opportunities for people from all backgrounds to thrive.

With a 35% increase in ethnic minority representation in early careers and a 50:50 gender-balanced graduate intake, we’re continuing to hit milestones that demonstrate our sustained commitment to equity and inclusion.

John Howie, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Babcock Race Equality Network Sponsor, said:

“We’re honoured to be named AFBE Company of the Year. This recognition reflects not only our ongoing commitment, but the real steps we’re continuing to take to create a workplace where everyone feels valued and included.

“Inclusion makes us stronger, bringing together different perspectives and experiences enriches our culture and drives better outcomes for all. Our colleague-led networks, such as our Race Equality network, are central to this vision, helping ensure that everyone truly feels they Belong@Babcock.”

We’re proud to stand alongside so many inspiring organisations recognised by AFBE-UK for their work to make engineering a more diverse and inclusive profession.
