Our LGE business has announced a 12 per cent performance upgrade to its market-leading ecoSMRT® LNG reliquefaction technology, delivering greater efficiency and sustainability for LNG carriers.
Effective immediately, the guaranteed capacity for ecoSMRT® systems from model 22-01 onwards has increased from 1.7 tonnes per hour (tph) to 1.9 tph of natural boil-off gas (NBOG) based on pure methane.
By increasing guaranteed capacity, operators can ensure larger quantities of cargo are delivered without increasing fuel costs or environmental impact.
This latest increase builds on previous enhancements, with the original guarantee of 1.5 tph raised to 1.7 tph in 2023 and now to 1.9 tph.
Our LGE business has continued to develop the ecoSMRT® system, and following more than 750,000 operating hours and feedback from approximately 90 sailing vessels, it has incorporated a number of design improvements, which have resulted in its increased guarantee capacity.
These progressive improvements demonstrate our ongoing investment in innovation and operational excellence, ensuring customers benefit from the highest levels of performance without requiring modifications to existing installations.
The ecoSMRT® system is designed to minimise energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by efficiently managing boil-off gas during transit and at anchor.
Responding to growing demand for higher capacity driven by evolving vessel performance requirements and environmental legislation, our LGE business has also developed ecoSMRT® 2.5 – a next-generation reliquefaction solution capable of guaranteeing up to 2.5 tph of NBOG based on pure methane.
This breakthrough technology, available now, represents an increase of more than 30 per cent in capacity, building on the proven success of the 1.9 tph system. ecoSMRT® 2.5 will set a new benchmark for LNG carrier efficiency, offering even greater operational flexibility and environmental benefits.
