Supporting our communities

We are deeply rooted in the communities we are proud to serve — supporting the welfare of people and places and contributing to long-lasting economic growth by creating jobs and uplifting local businesses. Together, we’re delivering positive benefits and helping to build stronger, more prosperous communities where opportunity thrives.

We’re committed to being a good neighbour, actively supporting the communities that live and work alongside us. Through charitable giving, sponsorships, and volunteering, our outreach efforts proudly champion both military and local causes — building stronger connections and making a meaningful difference where it matters.

Supporting our armed services is core to our values. We work with several charities which support both the serving and veteran community across all services.

We have been a sponsor of the Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA) since 2016, and became a partner in 2025, providing funds for volunteer mentor training to support veterans transitioning to civilian life.

We are a supporter of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) and platinum member of the Bridge Partnership.

We are proud to partner with the Army Benevolent Fund to assist serving soldiers, veterans and their families.

We also continue our long-standing support for Vine Trust – Read how we converted a former UK Royal Navy patrol ship into a medical vessel for Vine Trust.

We are supporting RAPAID to actively enable and participate in the charity’s roll out of life-saving pressure bandages in Plymouth taxis.

We also support our local communities, partnering with charities operating where we have our sites.

Volunteering

Our ‘Be Kind’ volunteering programme provides colleagues with one day each year to play an active part by volunteering for a charity or community group – here’s some examples:

Colleagues used their ‘Be Kind Day’ in partnership with Eat-Up, an Australian non-profit organisation that provides healthy and free lunches to vulnerable children.

Colleagues at Rosyth have the opportunity every month to use their Be Kind Day to support The Big House Multibank. Typical tasks include sifting and organising donations from the large deliveries and creating tailored packages for those in the local community.

STEM

We raise awareness of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through our network of 800+ ambassadors who provide around 500 employee days of STEM activity, engaging 30,000 students across 270 events. Find out more about our commitment to STEM.

Indigenous relations

We recognise the importance of both supporting and engaging indigenous and historically disadvantaged communities within the countries we work in. Their diversity brings a richness of ideas and perspectives to the business. We have adopted the Canadian Council for Indigenous Businesses’ Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) certification as a pivotal framework for our policy and program evolution.
